When God authored the Bible, it was written to "people.” It was about "people.” It was written that the "people" might get the most out of living in view of the primary fact that they would exist for all eternity. Life on earth is much like a baby in the womb, it is to prepare us for life, eternal life.
When we see the relationship with God as just filled with do's and don'ts to please Him, too often we forget that the do’s and don'ts are for our ultimate good because He loves us. The most fulfilling life you can have for time and eternity is getting to know our Creator thru scripture, not just your favorite verses, but all of them.
In a nutshell, it's not what you do but what you are that brings satisfaction to both you and Him. What you are is on the inside. Jesus said He would give us His peace, not as the world gives which is circumstantial, but His peace, a peace which is internal and not circumstantial. The Old Testament used the word shalom to communicate this.
In the beginning of my public ministry, I put on the wall opposite the pulpit a picture of Jesus and the words “People Matter Most” below it. This was to remind me and all who spoke from the pulpit, that the most important matter addressed was the people, not the message unless it built them up.
Why I separated the “Historical Highway” from “People Matter Most”
The Word of God is composed of the very words He chose to communicate through His chosen vessels to mankind, Israel, and the Church. Because He authored it, it is God-breathed and infallible. The Historical Highway is a transliteration of the chronological and historical books of the Bible.
However, with People Matter Most, I am not claiming that He has chosen me to write anything, but as a believer who has read His Word and followed Him for over 45 years, these are some of the things I have come to know and believe. I don’t believe them because someone else taught me, but because I have read His Word and these things are contained within it. Therefore, I am putting a few papers together on various subjects which might be of help to you as you read His Word for yourself. No subject is intended to be “the final word.” It is only to help clarify, as the entire Bible is the only final word. And one is to “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” as we read in 2 Timothy 2:15.
If you hold another position, make sure it is based on scripture in context, and do all and believe all unto the Lord. This is not intended to offend anyone but to help clarify as you study to show yourselves approved unto God not needing to be ashamed and love one another as Christ loved the Church. He instructed us to love others in the same manner, so be a blessing to those you were called to help and serve.
Now may God Himself bless you and protect you as you read His Word and live out your beliefs before a lost and dying world.
