Salvation is of God
From the giving of the covenant with Abram in Genesis 15, God has taken responsibility for both sides of the covenant with man. He has taken responsibility for His side of the covenant because it is impossible for God to lie. He has taken responsibility for man’s side of the covenant in that He provides a way for man to keep his side of the covenant. We see this foretold in the original giving of the covenant in Genesis 15 when God put Abram to sleep and a smoking furnace and a burning lamp passed between the cut pieces of the covenant representing God being responsible for both sides of the covenant.
Then in the New Testament, we see Jesus life, death and resurrection providing man with atonement for his sins, thus providing salvation. While it is true that man has responsibilities in meeting his side of the covenant, God takes responsibility for man being able to meet these requirements.
In the Letters and Epistles, we have great comfort in the promises given to us as we live out our life by faith in the work of Jesus in our lives.
Following is a small sample of these promises showing that it is God’s work in us that secures salvation for us and it is not in our ability to provide anything to obtain salvation. Salvation is of God.
Ephesians 2:8-10 Historical Highway
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourself, it is the gift of Theos, the Triune God, not of works, lest any man should boast. For you are His workmanship, created in Christos Iesous, Christ Jesus, for good works, which Theos, the Triune God, prepared beforehand that you should walk in them.
Hebrews 11:1-3 Historical Highway
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.
By faith, we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of Theos, the Triune God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.
2 Corinthians 3:2-6 Historical Highway
You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men. Clearly, you are an epistle of Christos, Christ the Anointed One, ministered by us, written not with ink but by Pneuma, the Spirit, of the living Theos, the Triune God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart.
And we have such trust through Christos, Christ the Anointed One, toward Theos, the Triune God. Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves. But our sufficiency is from Theos, the Triune God, who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant. Not of the letter but of Pneuma, the Spirit, for the letter kills, but Pneuma, the Spirit, gives life.
Galatians 5: 22-26 Historical Highway
The fruit of Pneuma, the Spirit, is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.
Against such, there is no law. And those who belong to Christos, Christ the Anointed One, which we are, have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
If we live in Pneuma, the Spirit, we also walk in Pneuma, the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, and envying one another.
Ephesians 5: 8-10 Historical Highway
For we were once darkness, but now are light in the Kyrios, the Lord. We walk as a child of light for the fruit of Pneuma, the Spirit, is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth finding out what is acceptable to Kyrios, the Lord.
1 John 1:1-4 Historical Highway
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life. The life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with Patayr, the Father, and was manifested to us, that which we have seen and heard, we declare to you. That you also may have fellowship with us, and truly our fellowship is with Patayr, the Father, and with His Son Iesous Christos, Jesus the Christ, the Anointed One. And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.
1 John 1:8-9 Historical Highway
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 4:1-3a, 4, 13 Historical Highway
Do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of Theos, the Triune God, because many false prophets, religious imposters, and non-believers, have gone out into the world. By this you know Pneuma Theos, the Spirit of God, and every spirit that confesses that Iseous Christos, Jesus the Christ, the Anointed One, has come in the flesh is of Theos, the Triune God. And every spirit that does not confess that Iesous Christos, Jesus the Christ, the Anointed One, has come in the flesh is not of Theos, the Triune God.
You are of Theos, the Triune God, brethren, and have overcome them because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us His Pneuma, the Spirit.
1 John 4:18-19 Historical Highway
Now, there is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. We love Him because He first loved us.
Romans 8: 28-39 Historical Highway
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love Theos, the Triune God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Moreover, whom He predestined, these He also called. Whom He called, these He also justified. And whom He justified, these He also glorified. What then shall we say to these things? If Theos, the Triune God is for me, who can be against me? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
Who shall bring a charge against Theos, the Triune God's elect? It is Theos, the Triune God, who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christos, Christ the Anointed One, who died and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of Theos, the Triune God, who also makes intercession for us.
Who shall separate us from the love of Christos, Christ the Anointed One? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written,
"For Your sake we are killed all day long, we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of Theos, the Triune God, which is in Christos Iesous, Christ Jesus, our Kyrios, Lord.
Ephesians 6: 10-18 Historical Highway
Finally, be strong in Kyrios, the Lord, and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of Theos, the Triune God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Therefore, take up the whole armor of Theos, the Triune God, that you may be able to withstand the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Standing, therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace. Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of Theos, the Triune God, praying always with all prayer and petitions in Pneuma, the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.
2 Corinthians 1:21-22 Historical Highway
Now He who establishes us with you in Christos, Christ the Anointed One, and has anointed us is Theos, the Triune God, who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.
Ephesians 1: 11-14 Historical Highway
In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.
In Him, you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. In whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Pneuma Hagios, the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.
Ephesians 4:30-32 Historical Highway
And do not grieve the Pneuma Hagios, the Holy Spirit, of Theos, the Triune God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving others, just as Theos, the Triune God, in Christos, Christ the Anointed One, forgave you.
As you can see, salvation involves both man and God, but without God taking the responsibility for man and “equipping” him, he would have no access to salvation.
This is just a brief introduction to this fascinating subject, and I hope you will start with this and do your own study.
Now may the God of your salvation guide and bless you as you journey to lifes end with Him.
God bless you
