Genesis & Job The creation by Eloheim the Creator and all beginnings with the insight to spiritual warfare in the book of Job.
Genesis Chapter 1

Genesis is the book of beginnings of God’s creation. Weather plants or animals, the human race, or things in the heavens like stars or angels, all things were created by God.  This is a foundational belief for all who want to understand and approach God.  He is Creator, and as a result, all are responsible to him.  What we believe may take some time to think through and mature in, but the statements are clear.  God is Creator.

In Genesis, we see all that God created was “good.”  After creation sin entered the universe and we see the consequences in the Garden when Eve ate the fruit and shared it with Adam which God had commanded not to be done.  Immediately they “felt naked” and “hid themselves” from God.  At this point, God explains the consequence of their action or sin to Adam, then Eve and finally the serpent.  The names of God and the serpent, we come to know as Satan, have important meanings, so I have times transliterated them for clarity.

Immediately with the first generation, we see jealousy and murder.  We see a clear rebellion against who God is and what he has commanded, by people who clearly knew he created and existed.  There was no confusion in the early days of mankind on this issue, but there was still a refusal to believe.  In the generations to follow things deteriorate so much that God brings a flood and spares only one family that was walking in obedience.  With each generation, we see a clear division between those who believe God and act accordingly and those who do not believe and do something entirely different.  We see God establishing “covenants” in his dealings with men to protect them and bring them into a desirable relationship.”   In the thousands of years that have passed, we still face the same choices they did.   As we see these men live out their lives, their choices to believe or not believe are not so different from ours.  Will we believe God and live accordingly or not believe God and do something else?  The problem we face as we try to understand who God is, there are really no covenants being honored in our society today, so we don’t have a frame of reference to understand “covenants.”  One of the most important covenants we enter into is marriage, and we see that is almost completely eroded away in this day and age and is no help in understanding covenants.

One important thing to understand as you start reading the “Historical Highway thru the Bible” is scriptures is written with what is called “progressive revelation.”  What this simply means is that it goes from incomplete to more complete rather than seeing one statement correcting another.  You must never, never use scripture against scripture, but rather see how they fit together and complement each other giving a more complete view as you build.  It is very important to see this when it comes to the names of God.  God is expanding our understanding of who He is by using multiple names.  People not understanding this simple truth come to the conclusion that with each additional name we must assume there was a different author.  This is a terrible mistake.  In short, we must keep two simple things in mind.  One is the writer had a better grasp of what was happening than we do, and in light of that, we should remember that “if the plain sense makes common sense, seek no other sense.

Now may God richly bless your reading the book of Genesis as it opens up to you.

Genesis Chapter 1

In the beginning Eloheim the Creator created the heavens and the earth.  The earth was without form and void, and darkness was on the face of the deep.  And Ruach Eloheim, the Spirit of the Creator, was hovering over the face of the waters. Then Eloheim the Creator said, "Let there be light,” and there was light. And Eloheim the Creator saw the light that it was good, and Eloheim the Creator divided the light from the darkness. Eloheim the Creator called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So, the evening and the morning were the first day.

Then Eloheim the Creator said, "Let there be an expanse or firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters." Thus, Eloheim the Creator made the expanse or firmament and divided the waters which were under the expanse or firmament from the waters which were above the expanse or firmament, and it was so. And Eloheim the Creator called the expanse or firmament Heaven. So, the evening and the morning were the second day.

Then Eloheim the Creator said, "Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place and let the dry land appear,” and it was so. And Eloheim the Creator called the dry land Earth, and the gathering together of the waters He called Seas. And Eloheim the Creator saw that it was good. Then Eloheim the Creator said, "Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind whose seed is in itself on the earth" and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And Eloheim the Creator saw that it was good. So, the evening and the morning were the third day.

Then Eloheim the Creator said, "Let there be lights in the expanse or firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night, and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years, and let them be for lights in the expanse or firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth,” and it was so. Then Eloheim the Creator made two great lights, the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also. Eloheim the Creator set them in the expanse or firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And Eloheim the Creator saw that it was good. So, the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

Then Eloheim the Creator said, "Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the expanse or firmament of the heavens." So Eloheim the Creator created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And Eloheim the Creator saw that it was good. And Eloheim the Creator blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth." So, the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

Then Eloheim the Creator said, "Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind, cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind,” and it was so. And Eloheim the Creator made the beast of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind. And Eloheim the Creator saw that it was good.

Then Eloheim the Creator said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness, let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." So Eloheim the Creator created man in His own image, in the image of Eloheim the Creator He created him, male and female He created them. Then Eloheim the Creator blessed them, and Eloheim the Creator said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and subdue it, have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth."

And Eloheim the Creator said, "See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed, to you it shall be for food. Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food,” and it was so. Then Eloheim the Creator saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So, the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
