You have magnified
above all Your names
Psalm 138:1-2 (Historical Highway) I will praise You with my whole heart, before Eloheim the Creator I will sing praises to You. I will worship toward Your holy temple, and praise Your name for Your lovingkindness and Your truth. For You have magnified Your word above all Your names.
When we come to the word of God, we must understand what the value of the word of God is, the value that God Himself has place on it. There is nothing else in the world of an equal value. And yet it is so common and familiar to us, we just take it for granted. That must change in our thinking.
When the Gospel of John was penned, the very first thing God communicated was the value of the word of God and who the Word was.
John 1:1-3 (Historical Highway) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with Theos, the Triune God, and Theos, the Triune God, was the Word. He was in the beginning with Theos, the Triune God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
As we read these two verses, we see that the word of God is the spoken and written word, but it is also all the names of God become flesh and who dwelt among us. It is used interchangeably.
In the Old Testament, when a scribe was writing the name of God it was considered so holy that once he starts writing the name, he could not stop until it was finished. That’s only part of what was required because of the holiness of God’s name.
For Him to say that He has magnified His word above all His names in just incredible. We must take seriously the value of His word and act accordingly. We will be required to give an account to Jesus when we stand before him.
Now may God bless you in all you say and do.
